EHS Workplace Training

Welcome to UW-Stevens Point's safety training webpage for faculty, staff, and student employees!

Training Requirements:

Supervisors are responsible for ensuring their employees are trained in all applicable topics and for maintaining training documentation for their employees.  Supervisors will work with EHS through job analysis to ensure training match the job responsibilities of the employees.  Supervisors must also ensure documentation of training is completed for compliance record-keeping purposes.

Employees are responsible for completing the training requirements assigned to them and following the protocols and safety initiatives learned.

To begin please review the Online Supplemental Training Materials by following the link.  The materials will provide a wide variety of information on safety topics at UWSP.

See below for the various training offerings at UWSP.

New Employee Safety Orientation (REQUIRED)

New employee safety orientation is currently provided by personnel from EHS and Emergency Management in an online course through CANVAS.  NESO covers a variety of initiatives that provide awareness level training to new employees.  Additional training may be required depending on your job position.  Your supervisor will discuss further training requirements with you.  All new employees will be required to take the NESO training.  Training topics include:

  • Bloodborne Pathogen Awareness
  • Hazard Communication
  • Slip, Trip, and Falls
  • Incident Reporting
  • Active Shooter Response Training
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Campus Emergencies
  • Pointer Alerts

Periodic/Annual Training Options

1. Online Training

Most training for environmental, occupational health, and safety initiatives is provided through  Vector Solutions.

Vector solutions provides a flexible environment for employees to complete the training at their pace and location.  All that is needed is access to a computer and the internet.  A listing of all Vector Solutions trainings available can be found here...SafeColleges-Vector Solutions UW System Course Catalog Safety Collection

Supervisors can contact EHS to schedule online training through this service to meet their annual compliance requirements.

2. In-person Training

If online training is unavailable for a topic, customized in-person training can be administered.  If in-person training is desired, contact EHS to determine training needs and schedule if applicable.

Supervisors can also request "Train the Trainer" training for them to train their own workers.

A list of upcoming safety training opportunities can be found here.

3. OSHA 10-hr Training

OSHA has established a comprehensive training program for employees in the workplace.  The OSHA 10 hour is a great way to train your workers in a variety of safety topics and provide an industry-recognized completion card from the Department of Labor.

Contact EHS if you are interested in scheduling an OSHA 10 hour training.
