UWSP is committed to creating a sustainable future through our campus, community, and academics.  We demonstrate our commitment through recycling, composting food waste, energy reduction and continually exploring sustainability initiatives.

  • Food Donations to The Cupboard ​​
    • The Cupboard accepts fresh, non-expired food items.  
    • ​​To ensure food safety, The Cupboard cannot use:
      • rusty or unlabeled cans
      • ​expired items
      • ​non-commercial canned or packaged items
      • ​alcoholic beverages, mixes or soda
      • ​open or used items
      • ​medications
      • ​homemade items​
    • ​Reference the donation guide for further details for The Cupboard
  • Donations to The Backpack and The Closet​
    • Items to consider for donation:
      • ​hygiene supplies
      • ​school supplies
      • ​​books and games
      • ​laundry supplies​​
Donations will be collected at the conference check-in on Friday, November 8th along with at the Philanthropy session on Saturday, November 9th at the DeBot Dining Hall (rooms 055 and 053 on the basement level).  
  • ​Saturday, November 9th Philanthropy session from 1:00 PM to 2:20 PM will include:
    • Donation drop site for The Cupboard, The Backpack,​ and The Closet
    • Card Making activity to donate cards to a local organization. 
      • ​Card-making supplies will be provided
      • Donation goal: To make 360 cards! 

Student Resources at UWSP​

  • The Closet, located in Nelson Hall, is a free resource for students offering clothes in child and adult sizes.  Students can donate clothing items at this location.
  • The Backpack, located in Nelson Hall, is a free resource for students that offers items for school, home, and hygiene products.  These items are at no cost to students and students can donate directly at The Backpack.  ​
  • The Cupboard, located in the Dreyfus University Center, is a free food pantry open to any current UWSP student who needs emergency or supplemental food.  The Cupboard has expanded its resources to include easy meals, snacks, pantry supplies, and fresh and frozen foods. ​
Card Making
  • Card Making activity will go towards two local organizations
    • 4U Adult Day Service 
      • ​Our mission at 4U Adult Day Service is "to provide a stress-free environment for everyone connected to the program, and offer participants the opportunity to complete tasks and participate in the community as independently as they can." With regularly scheduled activities, in a non-residential setting, we enhance social development. We also develop skills for daily living and community living. 4U Adult Day Services can bring peace and freedom to your life. Our adult day care services evolve around a community program that extends beyond our doors, with volunteer opportunities and easy access to local attractions. Plus, our craft rooms, video games, and cozy living areas create a welcoming space for social interaction and relaxation.
    • Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs Home at King project 
      • ​​WDVA is proud to offer our nation's heroes a place to call home. In addition to operating the state's three top-notch skilled nursing facilities, WDVA has a long history of providing generous benefits, programs, and services that support the needs of those who served in the U.S. armed forces and their families. From mental health services, education benefits, funeral honors, claims assistance, transitional housing, financial assistance, and much more.​
