1. How many total credits are required for the Ed.D. degree?
54 credits total that can be completed in as few as three years. Students have seven years to complete their degree.
2. Which core courses will transfer from Concordia-Portland to UW-Stevens Point?
3. Would there be additional core courses required?
Yes, our program also has sustainability focused
courses, such as Philosophical and Theoretical Foundations of Sustainability
Education (EDSU 908) and we have a summer residency program, in which one
summer would be required (EDSU 919).
4. Does your program offer a concentration in each of these areas (Administrative Leadership, Higher Education, Instructional Leadership, Professional Leadership, Inquiry, and Transformation, and Transformational Leadership)?
Our Ed.D. program is interdisciplinary. Our
students come from a variety of different backgrounds and professional fields. The program will prepare graduates to be educators and leaders who hold a passion for transforming systems of teaching and learning. The curriculum is intended to provide students the opportunity to actively engage in coursework, research and professional practice in the field of sustainability that can be connected to these concentrations in most cases.
5. What would your program propose doing for Ed.D. candidates who have not completed all four of their concentration courses and you did not offer the concentration?
Students will work with their adviser to determine what is in their best academic and professional interest in relation to required courses for our program, courses they have completed that can transfer or are equivalent. Our program is student-centered at the heart of our program to find a path to completion that helps them to accomplish their academic and professional goals.
6. How are your dissertation committees organized?
Our typical committee structure is three faculty. One member of the committee is required to be a UWSP faculty member. Other committee members (including the chair) can transfer with the student to get them to completion with as minimal disruption as possible.
7. For candidates that have already written their dissertation proposal - would your program allow for the current chair at CU-P to continue as chair at your university?
Yes, see above. It is only required that one committee member be a UWSP faculty member. A student could bring their entire committee if they choose and we could add a fourth member as the UWSP faculty. External committee members would need to be approved by the UWSP School of Education faculty and be assigned temporary graduate faculty status through our Graduate Council.
8. What is the application fee charged by students transferring from CU-P to your university?
Our admission fee will be waived for any student
transferring
from CU-P to UWSP. When completing the UW System Graduate Application please ensure that you select "skip payment" to take advantage of this offer.

Yes, we usually have a short online video interview with our admissions committee utilizing Zoom which we work to schedule at the convenience of both the student and committee.
10. In addition to the student sending an official transcript from CU-P Registrar, what additional paperwork would be required?
The University of Wisconsin Stevens Point requires
official copies of all transcripts to fully admit to the University. We can
work with student to obtain these over the next 4 months as long as we have
unofficial at time of program admission.
11. How would your IRB transition in students that already have an approved IRB from CU-P?
We’ll request that research protocol will be transferred from the CU-P IRB office to our IRB office. It is reviewed by UWSP to determine the most efficient route for approval for the student. There may be some request for revision depending on the review on our end. Ideally, we will strive for that approval to happen prior to the student beginning coursework or continued research.
12.As CU-P operated a fully online Ed.D. program, are there any on campus residency requirements or requirements for students to defend their dissertation on campus?
We also provide a 100% online program but DO require a short-term (4 day) limited summer residency on the UWSP campus or associated field stations. The residency is core to our program and cohort development.
