The mission of the Office of Sustainability is to point the way to a sustainable future through campus, community and academic initiatives. We discover new ways to reach out to the campus and community through a planning process that ensures a sustainable future. Partnerships throughout our community help the university become more responsive to local needs and help solve regional problems by embracing the sustainability principles of planet, people and profit. UW-Stevens Point's general education degree requirements promotes sustainability with cultural and environmental awareness and responsibility through academics.
UWSP sustainability offers students with many resources. The Green Fund is a $80-100K fund that supports student driven green and sustainable projects and anyone is welcome to submit proposals. The Cupboard, Backpack, and Closet are free stores to help provide students in need of food, supplies, or clothing. Ecosia, a search engine that plants trees with its revenue, is the default search engine in UWSP's public computer labs. Each student can also get a Green on the Go reusable container to use at dining locations to reduce campus waste. Composting is available in every academic building and on each floor of the residence halls. There are two bike repair stations, two bike shelters, and multiple covered bike parking locations on campus. UWSP students can also ride on the city's public bus system for free.
