Welcome to UWSP Adventure Tours where you will discover, learn, and connect as you travel with UWSP Alumni trip leaders and fellow alumni! Your leaders for this tour are fellow alumni Sue and Don Kissinger; they cannot wait to share this incredible experience with you!

Sue and Don Kissinger

Sue and Don have travelled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Central America, South Africa and Europe. They met 40 years ago as UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) students on an international trip and just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Sue recently retired from UWSP where she worked for 30 years and as a career specialist and academic adviser. She has led 24 UWSP international trips! Don retired from a 29 year career as an urban forestry coordinator for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in northern and western Wisconsin. Don has co-led programs with Sue to Belize, Iceland, Poland and Germany. Sue and Don recently relocated to a lake in northwestern Wisconsin and enjoy to hiking, kayaking, fishing and spoiling their grandchildren.​

Trip Information​

This tour is all-inclusive:​

  • All in-country transportation, including airport transfers
  • Escorted tour with local bi-lingual guides throughout the entire trip 

  • Two UWSP trip leaders, Sue and Don Kissinger

  • ​Park Entry and Activity Fees
  • All meals (Dinner on Day 1 - breakfast on Day 9), Drinks (Water, Juices), Snacks
  • Gears, as needed
  • Pick up and drop off to and from your lodge for daily activities
  • 5 Nights at Cahal Pech Village Resort, private bathrooms, double occupancy
  • 3 Nights at Mariposa Beach Resort Placencia, private bathrooms, double occupancy

Mariposa Resort:

Full Meal Plan: This includes daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from the menu. It excludes items that are listed as market price, top shelf imported alcohol and high-end wines. 

This does not include: 

  • Guide Gratuity
  • Alcoholic Beverages (outside of Mariposa Resort) 

FAQ

When can I book my flight?

Flights:  Please do not book your flights until this tour has reached the minimum number of travelers to hold space. UWSP Adventure Tours Staff and/or tour leader will stay in touch with you to confirm this. Once confirmed, you are responsible for arranging and purchasing your own flights (flight itineraries will vary due to preferences and departure locations). Please wait to book your flights.​

Are airport transfers included?

U.S. Airport Transfers:  UWSP Adventure Tours does not coordinate airport transfers for your departure or arrival to/from this tour destination due to liability, costs, & inflexibility. Please arrange for your own transport to/from the airport in the U.S. according to your flight itinerary.​

Cancellations and Refunds: Cancellations of tours must be made in writing up to 91 days prior to departure and will be refunded in full less your nonrefundable deposit. Cancellations made within 90 days of departure will not be refunded.
