SCARAB, like CHILSON, is one of the early and very heavy lead-glass patterns appreacitated for its attractive appearance and tremendous scarcity. It has been recorded only in goblet form and has not been attributed firmly to any specific manufacturer. St. T. Millard labels it Sanwich, but Ruth webb Lee merely suggests it may be of New England ancestry, in the book, Victorian Glass. Lee does not list it among those pattern authenticated from fragments dug at the Sandwich factory site. (50 Favorites catalogue)
