Modern timber bridges are a viable replacement for aging bridge infrastructure. Currently, Wisconsin has over 500 timber bridges already in operation. Not only do timber bridges support roadways for vehicles, but they can also be utilized in recreational areas for pedestrian traffic and off-road vehicles. Additionally, timber bridges offer a feasible alternative to steel and concrete structures.
In this workshop participants will learn:

How to use Wisconsin wood species in construction
Timber bridge design
Timber bridge inspection
Timber bridge rehabilitation
Applicable codes

Structural engineers, engineering technicians, landscape architects, bridge program managers, local government officials, parks and recreation program managers, and anyone interested in learning about timber bridges.
