Lake District Commissioner Training - Session I: Lake District Operations

ALL DAY WORKSHOP
Whether you are new to your lake district or a seasoned Lake District Commissioner, this workshop will help you sort through the requirements of being a commissioner and operating a lake district. Learn about requirements, meeting etiquette, member communication, budget and funding methods, and many more ideas to help you become an effective commissioner. By receiving a free copy of "People of the Lakes: A Guide for Wisconsin Lake Organizations," you will have tips and information to be your guide. This will be a two part series - during the am and pm workshop blocks.

Name That Plant! Aquatic Plant Identification

Do you ever wonder about which water plants are in your lake? This workshop helps with the identification of aquatic plants by giving you a hands-on learning experience to heighten your time spent on the lake. By becoming more knowledgeable about water plants, this workshop will aid you with various lake projects, grants, and management plans.

Techniques for Manual Removal of Eurasian Watermilfoil

The manual removal of EWM sparks involvement and volunteer teamwork, an option that can lead to healthier lakes as well as lake associations and districts. This inexpensive option of removal is shown in this presentation for the best practices, operation, equipment, management tools, and ideas. With pictures and videos available throughout, the manual removal of EWM will help save you money and help our lakes gain great rewards.

DIY Lake Monitoring Gear

DIY (do-it-yourself) lake monitoring style! Join our workshop and actually go home with your own hand-made lake view scope, Eurasian water-milfoil collection bag and crayfish trap. All materials, directions, and hands-on training will be provided. We will also have examples (and directions) of other lake monitoring equipment including collection nets and zooplankton tows.

Tour: Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District Operations: NEW Water

MORNING WORKSHOP ONLY - OFF SITE @ GB Metro Sewerage District
This on-site tour of NEW Water, the brand of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District will give an overview of the entire process, as well as addressing pollution prevention initiatives. NEW Water has implemented watershed-based planning by working with regulators to adopt reasonable approaches to nutrient management through watershed based permitting and effluent trading. Visitors should dress for walking and stairs both indoors and outdoors.
