Program Development Tasks and Timeline
Fall 1 Development Tasks
- Develop/finalize course offering matrix
- Develop course design schedule (including recruiting faculty/instructors to be course authors)
- Finalize Program Grant Contract and get signatures
- Develop program-level support documents/resources (Department work supported by CITL)
- Website for the Online Program
- Instructor Handbook
- Student Handbook
- A HUB
- Develop a Canvas course template for the program
- Develop a Syllabus template for the program
- Develop any other program-specific templates/tools that will be used
General Program Development Timeline
The CITL course development cycle is split into three development periods annually during spring, summer, and fall. CITL strongly recommends that courses be developed during the cycle immediately prior to them being offered whenever possible. For example, a course being offering in the fall should be developed during the summer.
- Spring 0 – Program grant applications are due (May 31 Annually)
- Summer 0 – Applications are assessed, and grants are awarded (By August 31 Annually)
- Fall 1 – Program level planning and template development
- Spring 1 – Course Development
- Summer 1 – Course Development and Courses Offered (potential program start)
- Fall 2 – Course Development and Courses Offered (potential program start)
- Spring 2 - Course Development and Courses Offered
- Summer 2 - Course Development and Courses Offered
- Spring 3 - Course Development and Courses Offered
- Future Development Periods – Course Development, Course Offering, and/or Course Revisions (will vary by program)
