Pratima Gandhi began her tenure as interim chancellor of UW-Stevens Point on July 14, 2025.

As interim chancellor, she is focused on upholding the goals of the university's strategic plan, Purpose Made Possible, and UWSP's commitment to excellence and purpose-driven education for all.

Gandhi previously served as vice chancellor for Finance and Administration at UWSP, leading a division of 160 full-time employees.

With a strong commitment to fostering fiscal responsibility and operational effectiveness, Gandhi's career spans more than 25 years of experience in higher education administration and financial management. As UWSP's vice chancellor, she oversaw the university's operating budget, ensuring transparency and promoting a culture of accountability. She collaborated with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to align financial resources with the university's strategic goals, all while advocating for best professional practices within procurement and administration.

Gandhi is a dedicated leader who strives to create a positive and impactful environment at the university. Under her stewardship, UWSP has navigated the complexities of financial sustainability while prioritizing educational access and quality for all students.

Throughout her career, Gandhi has provided financial oversight for an array of financial functions, including facilities, police, risk management, capital planning and financial management. Her portfolio includes managing $400 million in various types of financial markets and instruments and leading major construction projects such as the new Library and Student Health and Wellness Center at UWSP. Before UWSP, she served as chief financial officer and treasurer at Bradley University in Peoria, lll., where she oversaw a $230 million operating budget, over $300 million in construction projects and other federal and state funds.

Gandhi's professional philosophy looks at higher education financial operations as a core function of the university mission, addressing and planning for challenges such as financial issues, changing student demographics and a national pandemic.

Gandhi holds a B.S. in accounting from Indiana University and has cultivated her expertise in budget planning resource allocation, and financial policy development. She has been active in a variety of professional and civic organizations over the span of her career, and in 2023, she was honored by the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents with the Outstanding Women in Higher Education award.

She resides in Plover, Wis., with her husband, Dr. Nimish Gandhi and parents, Dr. and Mrs. Chiman Patel. Pratima and Nimish have one daughter, Dr. Neeti Gandhi, who recently joined Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Louis A. Simpson and Kimberly K. Querrey Biomedical Research Center, as a research scientist.
