International study aboard programs are regulated from UWSA by ACIS-7, POLICY GUIDELINES FOR THE CONDUCT OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS IN THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN SYSTEM and financially by UWSA financial paper F(45), Study Abroad Programs.

In addition, UWSP Provost Office has approved and required the adherence to the UWSP Study/Travel Abroad Planning Guide on an interim basis through FY05.

CISI / MEDEX Insurance

Effective with the Fall Semester 2002, the Board of Regents has mandated that all University of Wisconsin students studying/traveling abroad under a UW sponsored program must enroll in health insurance through an insurance plan offered by Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI). This program is also available to faculty and staff who are involved in educational programs abroad.

The International Programs office will need the following information to complete the individual student's enrollment in CISI: program name, destination, full name, including middle initial; start date, stop date, number months of coverage, date of birth, and gender. Months are defined as 30 days. Partial months are counted as a full month's charge.

This program may be available to participants of other programs traveling abroad for educational purposes. Contact the Travel Administrator in Payment Services at (715) 346-4299 for assistance.

Employees who are in work status while involved in educational pursuits abroad have medical evacuation and repatriation through the MEDEX program.
