TAKE THE CREATIVE DIRECTION YOU DESIRE
Our BFA in Art is called the Integrative Studio Arts degree because it allows you to integrate classes in multiple disciplines. This professional degree requires 78 credits within the major, yet it is all about the creative direction YOU want to take. To start with you take a solid core of art studios and then get to choose classes that pique your interest—such as performance, lighting or costume design, video, or sound production. If you want to spend every waking hour in the painting studio, building sculpture, throwing pots, or making prints, this program allows for that too.

Our graduates find employment in commercial enterprises, private firms, government agencies or work in educational institutions. Some choose the entrepreneurial path, becoming self-employed professional artists, or decide to go on to graduate school.

WHAT TO EXPECT
- Exhibition Opportunities / Competitions
Art and Design hosts the annual Juried Student Exhibition where students at all levels can enter work and have the chance to win awards. Each year we also hold a Scholarship Competition with multiple awards given to excellence in each discipline, in leadership and service. Students get calls to enter local, regional, national and international art shows.
- Public Art / Community Work
The Carlsten Gallery Student Advisory Committee (CGSAC) holds an annual competition for students to create Public Artwork. Students gain experience with proposal writing, presentations, and working with a faculty mentor.
- Visiting Artists / Workshops
Every year we host different visiting artists who hold workshops and give lectures on campus. Student groups sponsor events and individuals also travel to attend talks or weekend workshops.

The College of Fine Arts and Communication at UW-Stevens Point is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. UW-Stevens Point in the only college in the state to hold national accreditation in all of its arts programs: Art and Design, Dance, Interior Architecture, Music, and Theatre, placing it in the top 7% in the nation.
