This year, UWSP is proud to host our fourth annual Active and Integrative Music Education (AIME) conference, hosted by the Department of Music. This conference was imagined as music educators (past, present and future) working together to envision ways of lifelong professional development.
We are pleased to welcome a new, concurrent conference track, hosted in conjunction with AIME, where we invite research and active presentations for colleagues and arts educators by researchers and teachers of design, fine arts, media studies, and communication organized around the same theme.
In-person and virtual options are available.
Tickets can be purchased online, or by calling 715-346-4100 to buy a ticket over the phone from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., or at the door if using cash or check.

This gathering is a place for all scholars in the field: music teachers, graduate students, undergraduate pre-service music educators, collegiate music teacher educators, music therapists, studio teachers, and retired music educators to come together and learn from and with one another, while hopefully making music together, sharing successes with their students, and inspiring one another. It is hoped that this will be a positive and uplifting day that will encourage us all and ‘recharge our batteries’ as we head into our Spring semesters and a new year full of hope and optimism for what music education at its best can mean for students of all ages!

2024 AIME Conference Keynote Speaker
Dr. Ann Marie Stanley
Director of the School of Music at Penn State
Ann Marie Stanley, an internationally known music education scholar, is Director of the School of Music. Before her appointment at Penn State, Stanley was Professor of Music and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at Louisiana State University’s College of Music and Dramatic Arts, and Associate Professor of Music Education at the Eastman School of Music (2007–2016). Stanley taught public school general music and children’s choir for seven years in California. In addition to a doctorate from the University of Michigan, she has degrees in oboe performance from Wichita State University. Stanley is the chair-elect of the Society for Music Teacher Education, one of music education’s most prestigious national professional organizations. Stanley co-authored the Oxford Handbook of Preservice Music Teacher Education in the U.S. (2020). She has published over 30 textbook chapters and research studies in major music journals, including Arts Education Policy Review, Bulletin for the Council for Research in Music Education, Journal of Music Teacher Education, and Research Studies in Music Education. She also has written on interdisciplinary arts policy, including editorship of a special focus issue on international arts teacher collaboration for the Arts Education Policy Review journal. The School of Performing Arts in located in the Noel Fine Arts Center is located at 1800 Portage St, Stevens Point, WI 54481 on the UW-Stevens Point Campus. Parking is free and located just across the street from the building in Lot R.
ou may come and go as you please throughout the day, however, registration runs from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. with a welcome address given by our Dean, Valerie Cisler, at 8:15 a.m.
Sessions run from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., and the conference concludes at 4:30 p.m. with a closing address given by Judy Bond and Rachel Brashier.
Following the conference, please join us at 5 p.m. across the street in the Brewhaus for pizza and beverages!
Most sessions will be in the following format and are 45 minutes in length
