STAR Registration (Beginning March 8, 2022 for Fall 2022):


Register for STAR/Orientation

•  In-person STAR sessions begin in late May/ early June.

Activate your account and email 

• Student ID number is required, located on your acceptance letter. (This is your official log on for all UWSP accounts)

Continue to monitor your UWSP email moving forward.
• During this process your unique UWSP logon ID will be displayed for you. After activation, please remember your logon name.
• Student logon names are typically the first letter of your first name followed by the first 4 letters of your last name followed by the last 3 digits of your student ID number followed by "". (Example Stevie Pointer, 11254111 = In a few cases, characters in Student logon names are changed from this pattern to insure a unique logon name.

Accept your admission

• Click "Accept" in the Admission Tile to guarantee your spot! This also allows your adviser to know you're ready to take sign up for virtual academic advising and registration. 

Register for a virtual academic advising and course registration appointment
(Sign-up for classes, must have active UWSP email)

You will not receive access to schedule an appointment until you accept your admission - see above. 
• Check your UWSP email for a link from your adviser to schedule an appointment. Appointments begin in late May. 
• Please contact our Academic and Career Advising Center at 715-346-3226 or if you need assistance scheduling.
• Report your college courses and AP/IB credit
• Your adviser will benefit from knowing any possible college credit you may have earned while in high school, through college/university courses, dual enrollment or credit by exam (AP/IB/CAPP). The advising invitation you receive will have access to an online reporting form (also found below). Please complete it as soon as possible - even if you don't have test scores back yet. The more information your adviser has about your previous/possible college credit, the better advice they can provide for your first semester in college.

Register and take the UW System Placement Exams

• All first-year students are required to take both math and English placement tests. World language placement tests are optional (French, Spanish or German).
• You should use your UWSP login information to sign up.
Testing must be completed at least two weeks before your virtual academic advising and registration appointment. Retakes are available.
• After you register, you should receive an email from "" titled "regional testing registration confirmation" with information on how to complete the tests virtually.
