LARS: Library Article Retrieval Service for UWSP Students, Faculty, and Staff

The University Library offers an article retrieval service for UWSP students, faculty, and staff. This service provides you with copies of articles from print periodicals that are owned by the Library. Requests for copies are submitted electronically using the UWSP Interlibrary Loan request form. Requests made during regular business hours will normally be filled within 48 hours.

Instructions for submitting requests:

  1. Log into your UWSP Interlibrary Loan (ILL) account here:
  2. Next, either click on the hyperlink to log in with your UWSP network username and password.
Enter your UWSP ID Number and Last name in the appropriate boxes and click the "Logon to ILLiad button."

Log into ILL

  1. Once you are logged into your ILL account, under the New Request heading, click on "Article" and fill in the citation information for the article you are requesting. See the example form below with the minimum number of fields highlighted in yellow. If you are able to provide more information, this helps library staff find your article more quickly. After filling in the citation information, click the "Submit Request" button. Once the article has been copied by library staff, you will receive an email letting you know when it is available to view in your ILL account. Please be aware that we can not process incomplete or incorrect citations.

Submit ILL Request

  1. After you are notified that it is available, you can view the article in your ILL account by logging in following Step 2, above. Then, under the View heading, click on "Electronically Received Articles". See the example form below. A listing of all articles that have been copied for you as pdf files will be found in the table located on the right side of the screen. You can view the article by clicking on the pdf icon corresponding to the article title you requested.

Electronically Received Articles

  1. If we find a copy of the requested article freely available online, we will email you a hyperlink directly to the article instead of placing a copy of the article in your ILL account.

Copyright Notice: The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, USC) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain conditions, libraries are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these conditions requires that the photocopy or reproduction not be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a photocopy or reproduction is used in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. Copyright guidelines also prohibit the Library from photocopying multiple articles from the same issue of a journal. The University Library reserves the right to refuse a copying request if fulfillment would involve violation of copyright law.
