This data reflects various factors related to our teacher preparation programs such as the number of students graduating in various certification areas, placement figures for recent graduates, and the number of faculty involved in teacher preparation and supervision. Title II Reports
Title II of the Higher Education Act mandates the Department of Education collect data on state assessments, other requirements, and standards for teacher certification and licensure, as well as data on the performance of teacher preparation programs. This data will be used for an annual report by state on the quality of teacher preparation, beginning April 2002. Campuses are required to make their data public after April 9, 2001. Public refers to inclusion in catalogs, promotional materials, and communication with prospective students.

DPI Report on UW-Stevens Point Educator Preparation Program
In 2011, the Wisconsin State Legislature passed legislation (ACT 166) which required the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to produce an annual report of the State’s educator preparation programs. The DPI annual report contains information on program completers, including first-time pass rates on required performance assessments and employment data.
First-time pass rates on standardized assessments
The Praxis Subject Assessment, administered by the Education Testing Services (ETS), is a required assessment for teachers in all subjects (except for world languages) who apply for Wisconsin licensure, if the GPA in their teaching majors or teaching minors is below 3.00. All UW-Stevens Point teacher candidates must have a passing score on the appropriate assessement, or a 3.00 in all teaching majors and teaching minors, prior to licensure.
A passing score on the Foundations of Reading Test (FoRT) is required for licensure for any candidate seeking a teaching license in early Childhood education, elementary education, and special education. If seeking a license in special education only, UWSP has been approved by the Department of Public Instruction for the FoRT alternative.
The employment data in the DPI annual report only includes licensed completers who were hired by public schools in Wisconsin; therefore, the data is incomplete. The Professional Education Program at UW-Stevens Point produces highly-qualified educators who find employment in Wisconsin public schools, in addition to a wide-variety of other educational settings, including private schools, daycare centers, clinics and out-of-state schools.
