About

English for College (EFC) with the department of Diversity and College Access (DCA) at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is a precollege English immersion summer program for economically disadvantaged, non-native English speakers entering grades nine through twelve from Wisconsin high schools. The primary purpose of this academic summer program is to increase aspirations and preparedness for post-secondary education. EFC focuses on building the academic reading, writing, speaking, and research skills vital for college admission and student success. Students who are passionate about attending college and seeking to improve their English language proficiency, EFC is for YOU!

In addition, students will have opportunities to explore college life experience such as living in a residence hall, dining, college and career exploration, and social/community building activities. As an EFC learning community, students will also gain a built-in network of support systems with fellow participants, teachers, resident assistants, DCA program staff, other UWSP staff, and campus partners.

Most importantly, we celebrate our diverse language and cultural traditions, so you will learn so much about the world - and yourself - just by being here!
