No surprise here — a majority of Wisconsin Rapids area teachers earned their degree from a school in the University of Wisconsin System.

According to data from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction detailing the institution from which a teacher earned his or her first degree, about 75 percent of teachers in the school districts of Wisconsin Rapids, Port Edwards, Nekoosa, Adams-Friendship and Pittsville claimed a UW school as their alma mater....

...UW-Stevens Point came out on top out, producing a considerable portion of the area’s teachers. Of the 425 teachers at Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools, also known as WRPS, 44.7 percent, or 190, were educated at UWSP. The Pointers also trained 44.4 percent of Pittsville’s teachers, 37.5 percent of Nekoosa’s teachers, 34.4 percent of Port Edwards’ teachers and 26.4 percent of Adams-Friendship’s teachers.
