About 1,400 students got their diplomas Saturday from UW-Stevens Point.
One philosophy major was particularly determined to make it to commencement.
"I spent the last year battling cancer and also finishing my degree at UWSP," Tarryl Janik said.
He was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. He spent some time in partial remission, but then this past December, his cancer came back.
"Wrapping your mind around having cancer and then you know dealing with those types of things, plus doing homework and you know staying on task and then fulfilling all the requirements. It's been a challenge," Janik said.
On Saturday he got his diploma.
