A new youth orchestra will offer young musicians from across central Wisconsin the opportunity to perform high-level music and connect with expert instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra Program, which will take life this fall, was developed by P.J. Jacobs Junior High School music teacher Kurt Van Tiem with assistance from the UWSP Music Department, the Aber Suzuki Center and UWSP Continuing Education. The first rehearsal will be held Sept. 21 at Michelsen Hall in the UWSP Noel Fine Arts Center, with performances for the public scheduled for December and May.
