Around 85 cyclists for STIHL Tour des Trees, North America's largest fundraiser for tree research, stopped in Stevens Point on Tuesday to plant a tree at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in honor of a long-time forestry professor.

The event was part of a week-long, 585-mile cycling event to increase awareness of the need for tree research and raise funds for the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund. Since 1992, the event has raised more than $6.6 million for tree research and education programs.
