University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students had the opportunity to take their classroom learning overseas when they spent two weeks on the Cook Islands teaching about health and wellness.

The study abroad trip offered about 10 students a chance to apply knowledge from the classroom in a real-world setting while also earning class credit toward their degrees. Students spent their time on the island of Rarotonga, collaborating with the country’s ministry of health, working on projects and campaigns to educate people on smoking prevention, men’s health, mental health, nutrition and wellness.
