UW-Stevens Point hosts Chinese students studying the environment

Rebecca Xiao says she loves seeing stars at night and being able to breathe clean air, and she’ll bring both those memories of Stevens Point back home with her to China.

Xiao, 14, of Beijing w​as one of a group of 16 students from various parts of China who will depart this week after spending about three weeks living at the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station, or CWES, and learning more about environmental careers and topics.

Marcia Mace, international students and scholars office coordinator at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, is one of the people leading the trip and hopes to make it an annual event that continues to grow. It’s also part of an expanding partnership between the university and China.
