Huanpei Ren’s first few minutes on the ice at the Stevens Point Curling Club were a bit unsure, but by the time he left, he seemed to enjoy his first experience with the ancient sport.

Ren, 13, is part of a group of about 30 students from China, between the ages of 11 and 17, who are visiting central Wisconsin as a part of the China Natural Resources Program. Coordinated through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the students will spend three weeks living at the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station while attending schools in the Stevens Point Area Public and Stevens Point Area Catholic systems and taking part in activities to learn more about environmental careers and topics.
