Vallier's life marked by love of nature, conservation efforts

Dorothy K. "Dory" Vallier, who channeled a childhood love of the great outdoors and her family's considerable means into helping preserve Wisconsin's woodlands, bogs and wild areas, died of natural causes Nov. 12 at the Milwaukee Catholic Home.

...She and her husband, Jacque, founded the Menominee Logging Museum in Keshena. She donated 1,000 acres of a family tree farm to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Foundation, where it serves as a natural resources learning center field station. She was a two-term director of the National Audubon Society.
