Central Wisconsin Sunday

The moment Shantanu Pai stepped off the plane from India at Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee, he thought he had made a mistake.

“I got off my plane in January and it was negative 20 degrees below zero, and my initial reaction was someone had lied to me,” said Pai, vice president of the Student Government Association at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Unfortunately for the 21-year-old Mumbai, India, native, where low temperatures hover at about 60 degrees, he arrived during a typical Wisconsin deep freeze.

However, since that day, Pai has worked tirelessly to become as immersed in the campus community as possible, having spent time working for dining services, and as a member of the international and waste management clubs on campus before getting involved in SGA.
