USA Today has announced the launch of its newest series of mobile apps called The Buzz. This collection of apps features news and content tailored specifically to individual college campuses across the country, with each college receiving its own app. To start, there are eight apps available for eight different colleges, with The Buzz apps supporting both iOS and Android devices.
When users download their college’s specific app, they’re presented with content from USA Today and USA Today College relating to national and regional colleges as well as other college-themed topics. This also includes general news pieces about regional weather, for instance, where those topics would be appropriate or are otherwise extremely newsworthy. The apps are also filled with campus news stories from college-specific sources, most of which are written by other students. Users can browse news based on a variety of categories, from sports and tech to “Study Abroad” and “Campus Life” categories.
