Wind Ensemble concert at UW-Stevens Point

The Wind Ensemble at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will explore its expressive capacity as it performs songs written for another medium at its first concert of the academic year.

Held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, the concert will be conducted by Jonathan Caldwell, director of bands and an associate lecturer of music.

The performance will include selections from “Three Revolutionary Marches” by Bedrich Smetana and Vaclav Nehlybel, “La cathédrale engloutie” from “Preludes, Livre I” by Claude Debussy and Merlin Patterson, “Old Home Days” by Charles Ives and Jonathan Elkus, “Old Wine in New Bottles” by Gordon Jacob and “Sketches on a Tudor Psalm” by Fisher Tull.

Part of the Music Department Scholarship Series, the concert is $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D.
