Euphonium and tuba players of all ages are invited to participate in the second annual TubaChristmas concert at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The rehearsal and concert will be held Friday, Dec. 14, in Michelsen Hall of the Noel Fine Arts Center, 1800 Portage St. Participants will rehearse from 5–6:30 p.m., and then perform in a free public concert at 7:30 p.m. Both participants and audience members are encouraged to wear festive attire.
TubaChristmas concerts, honoring the late great tubist William J. Bell, are held annually in more than 250 cities throughout the world and feature traditional Christmas carols specially arranged by American composer Alec Wilder. The warm, rich organ-like sound of the tuba-euphonium choir has won the ears and hearts of every audience.
Registration for performers is $5 per person, which includes a TubaChristmas 2012 commemorative button. Performers are also required to purchase music for “Carols for a Merry TubaChristmas,” which will be available at check-in. Chairs and stands are provided.
