Heartbreaking drama, musical
comedy and contemporary dance are among theatrical experiences offered at the
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point during the 2014-15 Department of Theatre
and Dance season.
Tickets are on sale for
evening and matinee performances throughout the coming academic year. Prices
are $19 for adults, $18 for seniors, $14 for youth and $4.50 for students with
UW-Stevens Point ID. Season ticket packages are also available for all seven
shows, the four in the Jenkins Theatre or the three in the Studio Theatre.

In addition, the First
Nighters program offers theatergoers dinner and a show on the opening Friday
evenings of six of the productions (Afterimages 2014 is not included). Meals
are provided in the Noel Fine Arts Center courtyard by university dining. Tickets
are $160 per person for either the three Studio or three Jenkins theatre

- “Radium Girls” - Oct. 17-19 and 23-25,
Jenkins Theatre
When Grace Fryer becomes ill with radiation poisoning caused by contact
with the radium-based paint at her job, she has to fight a corporate cover-up
for justice. With humor and heartbreak, the drama tells the true story of a
scandal that shocked America in the 1920s. Not suitable for young children.
- “The 25th Annual Putnam County
Spelling Bee” - Nov. 14-16 and 19-22, Studio Theatre
This musical follows six awkward adolescents through their daunting and
hilarious championship quest. Along the way, they learn there is more to life
than winning a trophy.
- “Afterimages 2014” - Dec. 5-7, Jenkins
Theatre
This student-directed show highlights the talents of student choreographers,
performers, lighting and costume designers and gives students the full
experience of creating their own work.
- “Be Aggressive” - Feb. 6-8 and 11-14, 2015,
Studio Theatre
Everything changes for 17-year-old Laura when her mother dies in a car
accident. Thrust into caring for her younger sister and brittle father, she
sneaks away on a road trip with a fellow cheerleader. Not suitable for young
children.
- “On the Twentieth Century” - Feb. 27-28 and
March 1, 4-7, 2015, Jenkins Theatre
Part operetta, part screwball comedy and part farce, the play takes audiences
all aboard a train where a theater impresario tries to convince a glamorous
film star to appear in his next production.
- “Danstage 2015” - April 10-12 and 15-18,
2015, Studio Theatre
The annual dance concert features new works by faculty and a guest
choreographer.
- “Antigone” - May 1-3 and 6-8, 2015, Jenkins
Theatre
An epic battle of wills over affairs of the state, the divine and family, this
ancient Greek tragedy by Sophocles is set after a civil war in ancient Thebes.
Not suitable for young children.
