Swimming classes for children are available this fall through the Special Needs Aquatic Program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The classes are for young children of all abilities accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children may gain an initial positive water experience, learn safety skills in and around water, and just have fun

Five weeks of class sessions will be held either the Tuesdays of Sept. 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14 and 21 or Wednesdays, Sept. 24, Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22. The 30-minute classes are held in the therapeutic pool in the UW-Stevens Point Health Enhancement Center, located adjacent to the Quandt Fieldhouse on Fourth Avenue. All are led by a certified water safety instructor.

Classes for infants and toddlers, ages six months to three years, will be held at 5:45 p.m. Preschool classes for toddlers, ages 3 to 5, will be held at 6:20 p.m.  Cost is $30 for these classes. Early registration is advised, as program space is limited.

For registration and more information, contact the School of Physical Education and Athletic Training, 715-346-2706.
