Internationally celebrated Mexican dancer and choreographer Tania Pérez-Salas will bring her Compañía de Danza to Stevens Point in November as part of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point’s Performing Arts Series.

The dance company will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Sentry’s Theater@1800. The series is presented in part by Country Inn and Suites of Stevens Point and Sentry Insurance.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $6 for youth. UW-Stevens Point students with ID may buy tickets in advance for $4.50 or be admitted free the day of the show if seats remain. Tickets may be purchased through the University Information and Tickets Office in the Dreyfus University Center concourse, 715-346-4100 or 800-838-3378, or at http://tickets.uwsp.edu.

Based in Mexico City, Pérez-Salas is one of Mexico’s leading choreographers. Her Compañía de Danza has performed worldwide, including tours throughout Mexico, the United States, Canada, South America, China, the Middle East and Europe. The works use music ranging from Mexican composers to beat-driven techno.

“Seeing Tania Pérez-Salas work is like being inside her head,” said the Washington Post. “Her Compania de Danza Contemporanea clearly draws its power from Pérez-Salas, and her surrealistic visions filled the stage and invaded the senses.”
