Enjoy student artwork, from graphic design to sculpture, as part of the Juried
Student Exhibition at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point through Jan.
25, 2015.
An opening reception will be held
Sunday, Dec. 14, from 2-4 p.m. for the more than 60 pieces on display at the Carlsten
Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the Noel Fine Arts Center. The
artwork was juried by UW-Stevens Point alumni Jamie (Karoses) Bertsch, ‘09, and
Joe Bertsch, ’08. Several student artists were selected for scholarships and
awards. Jamie Bertsch is an artist and educator in fibers and foundations at
UW-Milwaukee, and her husband, Joe Bertsch, is an artist and educator in 2D and
graphic design at Badger Middle School, West Bend.
“Each artist has considered
lessons of art history, contemporary trends and individual voice; and is aware
of what each have to offer in their artistic practice,” said the Bertsches.
“What is most apparent in all of the submitted work this year is a palpable
passion and drive to create work that questions boundaries, solves problems and
most importantly, participates in a larger universal conversation.”
Selected pieces from this show
will be for sale as part of ArtsBash 2015, which will be held Saturday, Jan.
31, at the Noel Fine Arts Center. Profits from this sale support student
scholarships.
Free and open to the public, the Carlsten Gallery is open
