Musician George Winston to perform in Stevens Point

Nationally acclaimed pianist George Winston will return to Stevens Point in December. Tickets go on sale Monday. 

Winston will perform on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Sentry’s Theater@1800, located at 1800 Northpoint Drive, Stevens Point. Tickets for reserved seating are $35 per person, plus service fees. A Montana native, Winston has been playing acoustic piano since 1971 and created his own style of melodic folk piano. He also plays New Orleans rhythm and blues and stride (jazz) piano at more than 100 solo concerts a year. 

He has released 13 solo piano albums since 1972, reflecting inspiration from the seasons and landscapes around him. Among them are “Autumn,” “Winter Into Spring,” “December,” “Forest,” “Montana - A Love Story,” and a tribute album, “Linus and Lucy – The Music of Vince Guaraldi.”

He has recorded albums featuring instrumentals of piano, guitar and harmonica, including “Pumpkin Circle” and the 9/11 charity album, “Remembrance – A Memorial Benefit.” He also performs Hawaiian Slack Key guitar in a series of albums.
