Local effects of climate change to be explored at free lecture

What changes can we realistically expect in our Central Wisconsin climate?
A panel of local experts will discuss what to expect and how to prepare for climate change in Central Wisconsin on Tuesday, June 25. The free talk will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in conference rooms 1 and 2 of the Courthouse Annex, 1462 Strongs Ave.
They will discuss the impact of climate change on our economy, agriculture, environment and our health. Lifestyle changes people can make and actions governments may take to help reduce the impact will also be explored.
Panelists from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point are Alan Haney, emeritus professor of forest ecology; George Kraft, director of the Center for Watershed Science and Education; and Jeremy Solin, interim director of the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education. Other panelists include Gary Garske, Portage County interim health officer and public health planner, and Patty Dreier, Portage County executive.
