Learn about sustainable land use through a tour in south central Wisconsin, offered by Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The tour will be held Wednesday, June 19, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., led by Lynn Markham and Kristy SeBlonka of the Center for Land Use Education at UW-Stevens Point. Participants will first visit Madison’s north side to learn about Community Groundworks and tour Troy Garden’s community gardens, organic urban farm and natural areas.
After lunching in downtown Madison (at an additional cost), the group will visit the Farley Center for Peace, Justice and Sustainability outside of Verona to learn about its organic farm incubator program and work with ethnically diverse growers. The last stop is at a nature preserve and green cemetery.
The tour cost is $45, which includes transportation and admission. To register, contact UW-Stevens Point Continuing Education at 715-346-3838 or 800-898-9472 or go to www.uwsp.edu/conted/aco.
