A showcase of student choreography and dance, the Department of Theatre & Dance at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will present the annual “Afterimages” dance concert next month.
“Afterimages 2012” performances will take place in the Jenkins Theatre in the Noel Fine Arts Center at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, December 6–8, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 9.

Nine student-choreographed and directed dance works, ranging from ballet to modern to contemporary, will be performed, including:
“Selkies,” by Emily Janik, is based on Irish folklore creatures that are half women and half seal. While they often take the forms of women, they always return to the sea.
“Square of Life,” by Mariusz Kujawski, compares the circle of life to a square of strife.
“Echo,” by Thomas Jacobson, depicts the lives of three women dealing with depression.
“The Heart Asks for Pleasure,” by Madelyn Mickelsen, is a contemporary piece that portrays finding hope through connection and support.
“Run,” by Pierre Clark, is a piece about people in love but separated by one going away to war.
“All That Remains,” by Emily Janik and Kellen Skidmore, is about myths of specters called “White Ladies.”
“A Burden of Love in Hindsight,” by Nicholas Frey and Maggie Zoeller, is a piece about the uncertainty of love in a relationship.
“It’s Often the Momentary Rainbows that we Remember,” by Erica Thomes, explores the range of family dynamics through energetic partnering and movement.
“Dandelion,” by Kristin Brockman, is a literal story about four strangers who discover nature and are transformed.
