Short-Term Programs

Short-term programs are offered in the summer and during Winterim (January).  They vary in length from three to ten weeks and carry from 3 to 9 credits.   Most are specific to particular majors or minors, (i.e. Music, Communication, Natural Resources, English, Psychology, etc.) but many are open to students with a general interest in the subject area/s.

UWSP's College of Natural Resources (CNR) offers a seven-week environmental seminar to Germany, Iceland and Poland. This program is run jointly with CNR and International Programs. In general, only UWSP CNR students are eligible to participate, but interested people may contact CNR for details:

  • UWSP Bicycling & Hiking Adventure Tours
    (These tours are administered by the School of Health Promotion and Human Development (HPHD) and not the International Programs Office; please contact HPHD directly for information: bikehike@uwsp.edu . They are non-credit programs though interested participants can arrange for UWSP credit at an additional charge.)

  • CHINA: UWSP does not currently offer programs in China. We strongly advise students interested in studying abroad in China to explore some of the options open to them through other UW-System universities. Click here to see a list. For these program, you need apply directly to UW-System university's study abroad office and NOT through the International Programs Office at UWSP. However, as with all non-UWSP study abroad programs, there is a form to complete in the UWSP International Programs Office to assure that you can maintain your UWSP student status during your participation -- see the UWSP International Programs Office staff.

  • INDIA: We frequently have students ask about programs in India and, although UWSP does not offer semesters abroad to India, UW-Madison does and will accept qualified UWSP students. The webpage for India can be found here. For these program, you need apply directly to UW-Madison's study abroad office and NOT through the International Programs Office at UWSP.
