Freshman Interest Groups (FIG)
A Freshman Interest Group (FIG) is a group of
first-year students who live near one another in the same hall and
enroll in the same block of “core” courses (typically two to four
courses). It is a living-learning community in which every community
member is valued and encouraged. The core courses of a FIG are
carefully chosen to enable students to 1) make a great start in their
university education and 2) graduate on time.
FIG students not only have access to all the
academic support services available to all students, they also have
academic support staff in the residence halls especially assigned to
their individual FIG.
Interested in learning more about the FIG program? Please consult our program booklet. If you are interested in applying, please complete and return the FIG application form which will be distributed to you in the next few months.
If you would like details about the FIG program, including course offerings and building locations, please contact Mary Duckworth, FIG Coordinator.
