When we say, “Clickers”, we are actually referring to a Student Response System (SRS) or Audience Response System (ARS). A receiver and software installed on the presentation computer collects polling responses sent by the audience from their clickers. When the presenter closes polling, the software generates a graphical view of the responses.
Clicker presentations are frequently used for opinion polling, though in instruction, polling is also used to identify common misconceptions or concepts that students just aren’t “getting”. Faculty can also display a correct answer if needed after the audience (class) responds.
