Advisee Distribution Lists

The following adviser distribution list is available: 

An Advisee distribution list contains the email address of an adviser and all assigned student advisees.

To ensure student privacy no one can see the membership of advisee lists.

Who can use the lists

The owning adviser can send messages to her/his Advisee list.

To request access to send to all UWSP Advisee lists for all departments, please contact the Office of the Registrar

Note:  Messages will be rejected if sent from an off-campus internet address or unauthorized UWSP account.

Naming conventions for Advisee lists

Advisee distribution list names are in the following format:

Undergrad advisee list (UGRD):  

adv-[adviser last name], [adviser first name]-UGRD

Graduate advisee list (GRAD):  

adv-[adviser last name], [adviser first name]-GRAD

Example:

Email Advisee lists from the Outlook Desktop app

  1. Create a new email.

  2. Click the To... button to open the Select Names dialog box.  

  3. In the Select NamesSearch box, begin typing the list name using the format in the above examples - or - click the Address Book dropdown, and below All Groups select Advisees.

  4. Select your Advisee list(s).

  5. Click To, then click OK to address the email.

Email your Advisee list from the Outlook Web App

  1. Create a new email.

  2. Click To, then click the double-arrow, >>, at the left to display the Directory list.

  3. Scroll down the Directory list and select Advisees for the current semester.

  4.  

  5. From the list of courses, click the “+” to the right of a course to add it to the To: line.

  6. Click Save at the top of the list to add the list address to your email.



Availability & Accuracy

All distribution lists are automatically available in Microsoft Outlook. The lists are updated every half hour from data supplied by the Office of the Registrar.
