Data Backup and Recovery
Data stored on individual workstations, whether desktop or portable, is
vulnerable to hard drive crashes, viruses and even theft of the device. To
provide additional protection to the University community, Information
Technology offers a workstation disaster recovery service. This service is
currently available for Macintosh 10.4 or 10.5 SCL and Windows SCL workstations.
The system is designed for disaster recovery purposes such as a hard drive
crash, virus infection, theft or malicious activity. The DRS is not intended to
be used for long term archival storage. You should always make copies of your
most important work prior to making changes in case of human error. To help
prevent our storage servers from being filled with unnecessary archival data
please use CD-R or DVD-R media for information you plan to keep indefinitely.
