Build a healthier community with the UW-Stevens Point School of Health Promotion and Human Development

At the School of Health Promotion and Human Development, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point develops professionals who study, promote and model lifelong wellness for individuals, families and communities, building a stronger, healthier community.

Help people live and eat healthfully through dietetics

The dietetics program at UW-Stevens Point provides the skills and information you need to become a professionally recognized food and nutrition expert and assist others to make food choices that will help prevent and treat illnesses. Courses focusing on medical nutrition therapy, nutritional counseling, community programs, sustainable food systems and food service management give you a broad base of knowledge and prepare you to become a registered dietitian (RD) or registered diet technician (DTR).

Relationships are key in family and consumer sciences

The UW-Stevens Point family and consumer sciences (FCS) program has been preparing students for more than 100 years.

As a family and consumer sciences student, you'll learn about issues that influence individuals, families and communities and cover a wide range of topics that are as basic as food, shelter and clothing, and as complex as child development, consumer economics and family relationships. Our family and consumer sciences program offers two career options within the major: child, youth and family studies and teacher education.

Turn your passion for health into a wellness career

UW-Stevens Point established the first college degree program in wellness in the world, and in 2010, became the first in the U.S. to be accredited by the National Wellness Institute. The National Wellness Institute was founded at UW-Stevens Point and still maintains a close relationship with our academic program. As a health promotion/wellness major you’ll meet pioneers in the wellness movement who strongly believe in the concept of preventing, rather than treating, illnesses by embracing a healthful lifestyle. The program will provide you with a high-quality education filled with hands-on experiences designed to ensure your professional success.
