As an accounting student at UW-Stevens Point, you will learn the skills necessary to be professionally licensed as a certified public accountant (CPA), certified management accountant (CMA), or certified internal auditor (CIA). In addition, you will develop a mix of analytical and decision-making skills to illustrate an organization’s financial status and inform business strategies.

The School of Education offers a program for physical education teachers who wish to complete the Wisconsin 860 Add-On Certification in Adapted Physical Education. The program consists of a total of 13 credit hours* including coursework and practicum.

The MBA program at UW-Stevens Point now offers an applied management certificate where you will learn to apply the tools of lean and Six Sigma, methods of large-scale project management, and techniques for operating and controlling organizational budget.

The athletic training master’s degree program is committed to serving students seeking national certification in athletic training. The MS-AT program will strive to incorporate effective teaching strategies, hands-on learning, the latest technologies, and mentorship to prepare students to excel as athletic training professionals.

The Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) is a joint program with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Program participants acquire abilities to teach content both in English and another language (either Spanish or Hmong). You will only be awarded the certificate if you successfully complete the English as a Second Language Minor with K-12 Teacher Certification. The Bilingual-Bicultural Education Certificate is only a few additional credits to acquire. It is administered by the Department of World Languages and Literatures.

Students from any major may complete the certificate which is particularly well suited if you are pursuing a major in family and consumer sciences-child life and family studies.

The child, youth and family studies minor provides a means to enhance a human development knowledge base for students in other related fields. The coursework provides students with knowledge and understanding of issues regarding children and their families and emphasizes the importance of family dynamics, resiliency, community wellness and quality of life.

As an undergraduate in the communication sciences and disorders program, you will study the development of children’s speech and language skills, the anatomy and physiology of the speech and hearing mechanisms, as well as how speech, language and hearing impairments may impact successful communication.

The credit analysis certificate will engage students in a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the processes involved in analyzing corporate credit risk. The Cross Categorical Special Education (SPEC ED) Add-on Teacher Licensure/Certification provides opportunities for licensed teachers to gain valuable knowledge and experience working with special needs children from 5K through 12th grade.

Students who choose to become early childhood educators (birth-3rd grade license) have a passion for working with young children and helping them develop and grow. Students in the early childhood education program at UW-Stevens Point learn key strategies not only to teach young children, but also to work collaboratively with their families in family-centered, culturally-responsive and developmentally-appropriate settings. Successful candidates in the program earn a bachelor’s degree and Wisconsin teaching licenses in Early Childhood grades Pre-kindergarten through third grade. Our graduates are well prepared to engage student in inquiry, facilitate learning, develop curriculum and use student data to inform instruction.

Undergraduate students with a desire to better meet the needs of children with special needs, ages birth through 3rd grade, should consider an early childhood special education minor. Coursework focuses on early intervention, assessments and instruction. The minor can lead to a Wisconsin early childhood special education teacher license if student teaching in this setting is completed. This minor consists of 22-25 credits.

The Special Education Add-On Certification program provides opportunities for licensed teachers to gain valuable knowledge and experience and add a new license in Early Childhood Special Education (Birth through 3rd Grade) and/or Cross-Categorical Special Education (5 year old Kindergarten through 12th grade). The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Sustainability program is online and designed for working professionals from interdisciplinary fields in sustainability. The program will prepare graduates to be educators and leaders who hold a passion for transforming systems of teaching and learning.

This newly approved license allows a teacher to teach 4-year old kindergarten through 9th grade. This program is only available for teachers already licensed to teach MC-EA ages 6-13 “Regular Education,” EC-MC ages 0-11 “Regular Education,” or grades 1-6, 1-8, K-6 or K-8. This newly approved license at UW-Stevens Point allows a teacher to teach 4-year old kindergarten through 9th grade. This program is only available for teachers already licensed to teach MC-EA ages 6-13 “Regular Education,” EC-MC ages 0-11 “Regular Education,” or grades 1-6, 1-8, K-6 or K-8. This K-9 license allows the teacher to teach 4-year-old kindergarten through 9th grade, all core subjects.

The elementary education major is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program that focuses on the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to teach children, grades 4K-9, in the state of Wisconsin. Successful candidates in the program earn a bachelor’s degree and Wisconsin teaching license in K-9 Elementary and Middle, which allows them to teach 4-year-old kindergarten through ninth grade. Our graduates are well prepared to engage students in inquiry, facilitate learning, develop curriculum and use student data to inform instruction.

The accelerated elementary education licensure program is ideal for those who have a non-teaching bachelor’s degree and are either teaching elementary education with a license with stipulations (emergency license), or want a career change to impact students. This K-9 license allows the teacher to teach 4-year-old kindergarten through 9th grade, all core subjects.

This certificate prepares students from business, wellness, or other health studies with the knowledge and skills to create an organizational culture of wellbeing and manage a successful wellness program. Wellbeing concepts are incorporated in healthcare settings, workplaces, and in community outreach and business leaders indicate employee health is a top priority to attract and retain talent.

Courses are designed to give students a framework in linguistics applied to second language education and provides students with the skills, methods, strategies and practice teaching for working with English language learners, K-12. With an introduction to linguistics, an introduction to theories of second language acquisition, as well as the knowledge you will need to teach and/or train effectively at all age levels, this program has many present-day applications.

The English education major, offered through the Department of English, is an undergraduate program at UW-Stevens Point that focuses on the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to teach English and language arts to students, grades 4-12. Successful candidates in the program earn a bachelor’s degree and a Wisconsin teaching license in English and Language Arts education.  

The graduate certificate in Equity and Inclusion in Education consists of 12 credits of coursework as well as a train-the-trainer capstone experience. The course work explores systems, structures, policies, practices, and attitudes to create a more equitable and inclusive learning environment, culminating with an action-oriented project. This certificate is designed for students in the educational sustainability doctoral program that want a concentration in education for equity and inclusion.

The exercise performance minor is designed for students who are interested in applying scientific knowledge to design, implement and train individuals with the goals of improving health, fitness and/or performance. Students will gain expertise in leading exercise assessments, creating workouts and coaching proper exercise techniques to provide effective strength and conditioning programs. 

The family adversity and adaptation certificate allows you to become conversant in challenges facing individuals and families today as well as strategies and techniques to deal with that stress in healthy ways.

The family and consumer sciences (FCS) program is one of the largest offered in the country. Our program, which is approved by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) and provides coursework that meets the standards required for graduates to obtain the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) designation, offers two options: Child Life and Family Studies; Teacher Education.

UWSP offers an online graduate-level teaching licensure program in family and consumer sciences (FCS) that can also lead to a master’s degree in Community and Organizational Leadership or Education.

The financial literacy certificate is awarded upon successful completion of a series of courses that center on competence and proficiency in personal financial well-being. The food and nutrition for health and wellness undergraduate certificate at UW-Stevens Point appeals to future health professionals who have interest studying in food as medicine.

You will be well versed in the culture and literature of German speaking peoples as you pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in the Teaching of German, grades K-12. The Teaching German BA includes a study abroad trip requirement.

UW-Stevens Point offers an online add-on certification in Gifted and Talented Education. This nine-credit program is intended for currently licensed teachers seeking expertise and specialization in Gifted and Talented Education. 

As a health and wellness coach, you will support individuals on a transformative journey, achieving lasting changes, and enhanced well-being. You will help others explore motivation and values. Together, you will set goals, help them work through obstacles, and create action plans.

The health education minor is designed to meet the needs of students who are interested in teaching health to K-12th grade. The minor provides students with the content, practicum, and curriculum classes that are required for the state 910 add-on certification. Students who have the add-on certification will be certified to teach health for the age levels associated with their primary teaching license. This minor consists of at least 20-21 credits.

The School of Education offers a 100% online program for teachers licensed in Wisconsin who wish to complete the Wisconsin 910 Add-on certification in Health Education. UW-Stevens Point has been approved by the Department of Public Instruction to offer Health Education K-12th grade.

This option in the bachelor’s degree in health science includes coursework in accounting, business, and human resource management. Upon graduation, you will be prepared for entry level positions; however, obtaining a graduate degree may expand your career options in this area.

Choosing the pre-athletic training option for your health science bachelor’s degree at UW-Stevens Point will help prepare you for admission to a graduate program offering the master’s in athletic training. Athletic trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

The health science degree with the pre-occupational therapy option will be your first step leading to a career in occupational therapy. It’s considered a pre-professional degree because it prepares you for further study in graduate school. The online medical laboratory technician (MLT) to medical laboratory scientist (MLS) Bachelor of Science degree program at UW-Stevens Point is designed with MLTs certified in mind who want to advance their education and laboratory career. Students who complete the MLT to MLS program can earn their bachelor’s degree in as little as two years depending on previous courses completed through their NAACLS accredited MLT associate degree program and credits awarded by UWSP for prior learning in the laboratory setting.

Students can pursue pre-nursing with our 1+2+1 partnership program or RN to BSN completion for those with an Associate Degree in Nursing in progress. The professional selling certificate is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of professional selling. The certificate program covers a range of topics, including sales strategies, sales management, communication skills and negotiation techniques.
