Presenter Information

If you are a STEM professional interested in participating in STEM Exploration Day for Boys, for Girls, or at the Treehaven event in 2015-2016, please read the following information and submit a workshop proposal form by September 28, 2015.
As a presenter, you may choose to provide one to three one-hour workshops focusing on your STEM career.  Workshops are offered between 10 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. and can be on a variety of topics.  Each presenter is asked to explain their career choice, the educational tracks they chose, and what they enjoy about their careers.  Then, a hands-on activity or multiple activities related to your career needs to be included.  The activity
can be a fundamental STEM concept related to your career, something you do within your workday, or maybe an aspect of your career area.   Workshops require a hands-on component and should NOT be only a discussion or a show.  Feel free to offer different types of activities or one large activity.  Be cognizant of the age group you are presenting to (7 and 8th grade) making sure content is age appropriate, modern and that activities are fun and engaging.

Opportunities are Available at three STEM Exploration Day events:

You may decline the t-shirt, but need to request one in order to have a shirt ordered for you in time for the event.  We ask that all presenters wear the shirt at the event for visual consistency.  Shirts will be given to you when you check-in on the day of the event.

Attracting Students to Your Workshop

Catchy titles and descriptions highlighting the intent of the workshop as well as the activity presented typically bring high enrollments.  Take the time to prepare a good title and description-be creative.  Continuing Education and Outreach will work with presenters to create marketable titles and descriptions, but will determine the final print copy.  If you need assistance with a title, please feel free to ask for help by emailing Samantha Pech at spech@uwsp.edu.
