Event presenters (faculty or staff at UW-Stevens Point or STEM professionals from throughout the state) are asked to provide one to three one-hour workshops with a focus on their STEM career. Presenters explain their career choice, the educational and career tracks they chose, and what they enjoy about their career. Hands-on activities are then provided related to the career.
Hands-on activities can be a variety of different things. They can illustrate what you do in your career, the activities can show how your career or something tangible influences the world around us, or maybe the activity just illustrates a particular science, technology, engineering or mathematics through an activity. For example a mechanical engineer may do an activity where students need to design and build a bridge to hold the most weight.
Activities need to be engaging, age appropriate, and contain modern content. Opportunities to present exist at all three STEM Exploration Day events below:
- STEM Exploration Day for Boys on Friday, November 21, 2014
- STEM Exploration Day for Girls on Friday, February 27, 2015
- STEM Exploration Day at Treehaven Friday, May 1, 2015
- Information provided below is primarily for the Stevens Point location, not for the Treehaven location. Please contact Jody Bognar if you are interested in presenting at Treehaven: firstname.lastname@example.org
