Awards and Scholarships
High-achieving students in our programs are eligible for many significant awards and scholarships, thanks to generous support from our alumni, friends and
corporate partners. Increasingly, our awards reflect the university’s vision of
providing challenging learning and leadership experiences that prepare students
to be global citizens. These scholarships are typically awarded in the spring. Complete the regular scholarship application
and return it along with your résumé, statement of career goals (under 250 words), and if applicable your statement of need to the School of Business & Economics office, 422 CPS by Friday, Feb. 14, 2013. If you are planning to study abroad you should also complete and submit an international scholarship application
List of Awards and Scholarships
Outstanding Pointer Award
The School of Business & Economics Outstanding Pointer Award is supported by a UWSP alum to recognize a junior or senior with a business administration major who exemplifies the Pointer tradition of being a trail-blazer and explorer through involvement on and off campus.
List Fellowship Award
Award will be given to seniors or advanced economics majors considering graduate work in economics with enough academic preparation in math and economics to qualify for admission to one of the top 50 economics graduate schools. Candidates should have a working knowledge of the software program STATA.
Northwestern Mutual - Bob "Rap" Taylor Scholarship
Award will be given to an outstanding business administration, accounting, or economics major. Separate scholarships are given; One for financial need, one for entrepreneurship emphasis, and two for FIRE (finance, insurance, and real estate) emphasis.
UWSP SHRM Scholarship
Students who apply must be a member of UWSP's student group Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater and must also submit an essay explaining why they should be chosen. Preference is given to students returning to UWSP for at least another semester.
CliftonLarsonAllen Accounting Scholarship
Award will be given to an outstanding junior or senior (with at least one full time semester remaining) with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Student must have frequent participation in SBE activities and high academic achievement with preference to those with the intent to enter the field of public accounting or related field.
DaWalt Family Economics Scholarship
Award will be given to a junior or senior economics major or minor who demonstrates exceptional promise in financial planning.
Gordon Haferbecker Scholarships
Two scholarships are awarded to both a junior standing and senior standing majoring in business administration, managerial accounting, or economics with a minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0. Awards are given to students who show character, need, and scholarship.
John C. Seramur Scholarship
Award will be given to a junior or senior (with at least one semester remaining) majoring in business administration, economics, or managerial accounting with minimum 3.0 GPA, high scholastic achievement, and demonstrated leadership. Financial need is not considered. All applicants must be in their sophomore or junior year at time of application. Applicants should include a written statement no more than 250 words explaining why they chose business administration, economics, or managerial accounting as their major and their future plans as well as two letters of recommendation from two department members.
Larry and Julia Weiser International Scholarship
This award is available to UWSP students with good academic standing. Preference is given to students majoring or minoring in economics, business administration, accounting (in that order). The scholarship is to be used for international study. Preference is also given to students with financial need.
Michael and Melba Sullivan Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding business administration, economics or accounting major who is enrolled in a
UWSP international program for the next academic year.
Randy and Patricia Cray Scholarship for Academic Achievement
Award will be given to an outstanding junior or senior as evidenced by academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and involvement in student activities. Must be a major in business administration, economics, or managerial accounting with a minimum 3.50 GPA and at least 90 credits completed towards major. Preference is given to a student majoring in economics.
Scott and Julie Wallace Internship Scholarship
Students who apply must be a major in the School of Business & Economics. In addition, the student must be registered for an internship for credit and complete the
internship from the previous spring, summer, or fall internship programs. Preference is given to a junior or senior.
Sentry/Carl N. Jacobs Scholarship
Award will be given to an outstanding junior or senior business administration or managerial accounting
major with a minimum GPA of 3.25. Special consideration is given to students
pursuing actuarial sciences in honor of Carl N.
Jacobs and for financial need.
Central Wisconsin Board of Realtors
Student must be majoring in business administration, economics or managerial accounting. Student must have completed or intend to complete courses directly or indirectly related to the real estate profession. Preference is given to a student residing in Portage County. Financial need is not a primary factor in consideration for this scholarship.
Tax Executive Institute Scholarship
Award will be given to an upcoming junior or senior accounting major with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Student must be a resident of Wisconsin. Interest in tax preferred but not required.
W.B. Greaton Scholarship
Award will be given to a first year, sophomore, junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and a declared major in business adminstration, accounting or economics.
Other Awards and Scholarships
Cheri Smith Scholarship
Available to UWSP juniors or seniors majoring in business
administration and/or economics. A student receiving this scholarship as
a junior may re-apply again as an incoming senior. This scholarship is
offered through the Central Wisconsin Community Foundation. Click here
