​Student Work

Students begin with foundation classes that prepare the students for creating work in all upper level courses. Foundation courses are normally taken during the student’s first year and include two semesters of drawing, 2D and 3D design.

 Art - 2D (BFA)

The 2-D emphasis area focuses on creating work in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking or a combination of these disciplines.

 Art - 3D (BFA)

The 3D emphasis area focuses on creating work in glass, metal, clay, wood and many other materials to create cast, thrown, blown or assembled sculptural works, multiples, utilitarian objects and environmental installations.

In the 3D emphasis areas, the student will publically present a professional body of work as a gallery exhibition.

 Art History (BA)

The Art History emphasis is a specialized degree program with a combination of studio courses plus a strong historial preparation. You can choose from art history courses focusing on western or eastern art history. The study of art history involves conceptual, historical, theoretical and technical skill development. Our programs give you knowledge of the materials and processes to create and the ability to critically evaluate art history.

 

 Graphic Design (BFA)

The graphic design emphasis focuses on creating work centered on visual communication such as branding, identity package design and publication design. The study of graphic design involves conceptual, historical, theoretical and technical skill development. Students are taught about the materials and processes necessary to create work and give you the ability to critically evaluate art and design.

Bachelor of Fine Arts students must complete a senior capstone experience. In the Graphic Design emphasis area the student will publically present a professional portfolio of their design work.

 Studio Art (BA)

The studio arts program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point encourages study in a variety of disciplines and provides studio courses in drawing, ceramics, design, painting, printmaking, sculpture and art history. The study of studio arts involves conceptual, historical, theoretical and technical skill development. Our programs give you the knowledge of materials and processes necessary to create work and critically evaluate art and design.
